I am writing this as i am flying back to KL on Air Asia. It's around 12.15 am now.. listening to some random chinese song on my phone.. something about 牵手。。。一起走到最后 and I can't sleep~
Just finished reading shopaholic abroad. Super outdated.. i know. It has been at least 6 yrs this book has been published but now only i get to the hype of the shopaholic series. May be my shopahic instincts did not prevail then.. whatever.
i am scribbling/jotting all these words on my yellow note pad with a super laoya pen which i think i can barely read later when i type this into a post. But no choice, just felt like i should be obligated to do this because i like to jot down my feelings and thoughts... and when's better to do this than on the airplane. PLENTY OF TIME, NOTHING TO DO and STEADY. and a table is already provided.
But right now.. the plane doesnt seem to be as steady as it ought to be. The turbulence is harder and stronger than usual. Usually.. when the plane has reached steadiness, the air crew would allow us to unbuckle our seatbelts. But this time they asked us to sit straight and have our seats buckled. So...... i think it's kinda scary.
OOOOook..
Let me explain my absence over the past 2 weeks. Haha. it was really nothing much. My sister and i were in Guangzhou sourcing for furnitures for our new house (situated just behind my house :p) and also we were there to just look around and take a look at the new China. it has been like more than 10 yrs since i stepped into china. But anyway.. let's just say... I DIDNT REALLY QUITE LIKE IT THERE.. the air pollution is so much higher than KL's, the ppl are more uncivilized, the toilets are dirtier, the people are nastier as well as they keep giving us different prices each day we ask for the price of the same thing. and.. the traffic!.. after 2 weeks there i think i am queen in crossing roads d. anyway... overall.. it was still alright and i reckon myself to be easily adaptable to new environment. well............. yes.......... somehow.. after 2 weeks.
**One of the air crew is announcing that the weather is in a terrible condition right now. and i m writing this 'breaking note' in a shaky and turbulent manner and my head is spinning. i see lightnings outside the window.**
Anyway... after 2 weeks.. i became one of them there.. ppl treat us like we are locals because of our chinese looks 'obviously' and our fluency in cantonese. Ppl there are really clueless bout English that this salesgirl told me that the language i speak with my sister sounds like English. then i just smiled and nod. then my sister told her that IT IS~~ eNGLISH. then the girl was so shocked!..
"HAH?!.. U ALL WERE REALLY SPEAKING ENGLISH?! WAH!!! ENVIOUS NYA"
she was saying this in mandarin la..
Then another situation was 2 salesgirls were looking at us browsing through some stuffs.. then i was talking to my sister in english.. Salesgirl A asks salesgirl B.. "what language is she speaking?" in cantonese. Then B said "I dunno er..! never heard of it b4" HAAHAHHAHAHA!!
I suddenly feel super powerful!
and i kinda notice one thing bout chinese nationals.. they are super nice to english speakers.. bcos they would obviously be tourists so the vendors can simply give them high prices. so only speak them where vendors cant cheat u.. in places where prices are fixed.
ANYWAY...
the plane isnt in a very stable state right now..so i think i am gonna stop here. my head's really spinning and i think i'm gonna puke soon from all the motion and the turburlence.
and that guy sitting on my southeast - some chinese muslim - has been talking all night for 3 hours straight (and it continues) to this poor Malaysian guy who was unfortunately seated next to him. so that's why i dont really like to strike conversations with strangers especially on an airplane when i know i'm gonna be stuck with them for hours! unless... u know.. he turns out to be someone ultra cute!! wahhaha!
am gonna doze off now. good nite at 12.44 am 26th October 2008
