Only on Chinese New Year

Only on CNYs that my family plan for outings - we either go to Sabah, Singapore, Asean countries... or... stay in Malaysia. This is seriously the first yr after maybe 15 yrs that my family decided to stay home. But we didn't loiter around KL asking for angpau everyday though. We joined a local tour that would take place on the 3rd and 4th day. So... on that day off we went to Penang, then the next day we went up north to Kedah - Jitra and Changlun (where it is super near to Thailand!) then down to Bukit Merah-->Taiping-->Kampar then back home. Pictures will be up....on Facebook.

At first i thought local tours should be fun... but going along with middle aged ppl... hmm...... maybe not. So i wasn't really looking forward to this trip but well.. the ppl who went with us were still lame but the trip wasn't! We had an ABSOLUTE blast!... which will be depicted on facebook! :)

On the 2nd day of our trip which was also the day that we go back to KL... me my dad and mum were lining up for the loo. i just woke up so i was quite blur...
my dad was talking on the phone in a somber tone...
i wasn't thinking much...
then after he hung up... he said
"Hor Kee Sim passed away..." (He is my dad's brother in law.. we see each other often so we were quite close)
After hearing that i totally WOKE UP!.. i didn't really cry though but it was just sad. I just saw him 2 days ago... joining us bai nian with our other relatives.. He was being his usual self - full of personality.. in a way. Ppl who know him would know what i mean. :p

There were a lot of things going on in my mind.
How fragile life can be.
Death really knows no age.
Death also doesnt know the right time to come. CNY!?
Death can come to u in sooo many ways.
How health can control our lives.
How our eating habits hold a great power in our lives.
How it really hurts other people who love us when we finally leave.

I cried terribly when they were going to seal the casket my uncle layed in. My cousins were wailing and i can't help but feel really really sorry for them and seeing them in such state led me to the thought of what if..... the day comes when my parents leave. It is nothing very choi to think bout such thing cause it will come eventually. Just thinking that i can never see them ever again... can cause terrible tears.

The worst thing was... my uncle's daughter already set a date to get married to her HK bf this yr after almost 10 yrs of courtship. But lucky... worse was not to come as Chinese do believe that if u are gonna get married u cannot do it within the first 100 days after parent's death for berkabung purposes. Fortunately her wedding is in May... and it would be 100 over days after her father's death. So she was like saying to me... "maybe my dad counted the days right b4 actually leaving?" I believe so! It's sad that her father couldnt witness her wedding but at least he was the witness for their marriage registration.

Well... it is Chinese New Year, and All's Well End's Well.

I hope that my uncle rests peacefully in a better place, free from stupid ppl that he absolutely abhors and free from sickness that he has always been under for a lot of years.

On another note, Angpau packets shrunk tremendously this yr. Maybe it's also the fact that i had to be at my uncle's place 3-4 days.

So many dinner promises i have to keep but am so lazy.
So many ppl i wanna meet but i totally have no time to.
So many things i wanna do when i see them but when i don't i totally forgot about them.

cannot la Mei Wen!!!!

Anyway.. who's going for the SSB gathering at Su Yen's?
i'm going!..

see ya peeps!

***it's the 8th night of cny.. it really felt like the sky just got bombed or something. i think the atmosphere in Penang should be more crazy!
